What happens after you press apply
We run three processes depending on the kind of role. The job ad tells you which one you are in, and your recruiter tells you where you stand after every step.
Every process
Application. We read every application ourselves. No algorithm decides whether you move on.
Screening. We look at what you have done, not at the title on top of it.
Recruiter screen. Around 30 minutes. Your background, what you are looking for, and the practical questions: notice period, location, salary. We would rather find a mismatch here than four rounds later.
Hiring manager interview. 45 minutes with the person you would work for. Specific examples, and the space to ask them anything.
Assessment or case. Around one hour of your time, never more. We tell you upfront what we are looking at, and you hear what we thought either way.
Depending on the role
For most roles, that is followed by an executive interview: a conversation with one of our leaders about where the company is going and where you fit in that.
For leadership roles, we add a team interview with the people you would work alongside, and a reference conversation before we make an offer.
For internships and entry-level roles, we skip the executive round. Application, screening, recruiter screen, hiring manager, a short assessment, and a decision.
Then an offer, the terms in writing, and a start date that works for both of us.
Questions you might have
How long will I wait for an answer?
For leadership roles, within three days. For most roles, within a week. For internships and entry-level roles it can take two weeks, because we receive well over a hundred applications for those and we read them all.
Will Datamaran sponsor a visa?
For most roles, no. Every job ad asks whether you have the right to work in the country the role is based in, so you know where you stand before you invest time. If the answer is no and you apply anyway, a recruiter still looks at it before anything is decided.
How many days a week do I need to be in the office?
It depends on the office, and the job ad says so. London has Wednesday as a fixed day, Leeuwarden has Thursday. Valencia is set per team. Fully remote is the exception, not the rule.
Do I need a cover letter?
No. It is optional everywhere and skipping it will not count against you. If you want to tell us something your CV does not, use it.
Why do you ask for my salary expectation?
So we can tell you early whether we are in the same range. We ask what you expect for this role, never what you earn now or earned before. The question is optional.
What happens to my data if I am not hired?
We keep your application for as long as we may need it and no longer, and we delete or anonymize it after that. If you would like your data removed sooner, mail people@datamaran.com and we will take care of it.
I need an adjustment to take part in the process. What now?
Tell your recruiter, at any point. Extra time, a different format, a written question instead of a spoken one. We would rather adjust than lose a good candidate over the shape of the process.
I was rejected. Can I apply again?
Yes. Roles change and so do people. If you were close, we usually say so, and we mean it when we say to watch what opens next.
