Internships at Datamaran
We build the AI platform that tells the world's largest companies what is coming before it becomes a problem. Here is what that looks like from the inside, and how you can spend six months of your studies with us in Leeuwarden.

What we actually do
Every large company faces thousands of external forces that can hit it. New regulation, geopolitics, what regulators are preparing, what the media picks up, what competitors disclose. Those are signals. Most companies drown in them and still track them by hand.
We pull those signals in, use AI to work out which ones matter for that specific company, and turn them into something a leadership team can decide on. Our customers include JPMorgan, PepsiCo, IBM, Mastercard, Dell and Bridgestone. Around 20 percent of the Fortune 100.
The hard part is not the regulation. It is getting from hundreds of thousands of documents, in dozens of languages, down to the two hundred that matter for one company. And it has to be explainable, because if a regulator asks two years later why a decision was made, the trail has to be there.

How we work
Our values
Five values shape how we work.
-
Raise the bar
- Compete and collaborate with the world's largest enterprises
- Bring something extra to everything we do
- Set the bar high, and hold it there, even when it's easier not to
-
Act first, adjust fast
- We back people who move over people who wait
- Speed is how we learn
- When the map differs from the terrain, we follow the terrain
-
Own it
- We pick up what needs picking up
- We don't wait to be asked, and we don't pass the buck
- Ownership is a behavior, not a title
-
Build together
- We work in pods, not silos, with product, commercial, and customers in the loop
- What we sell shapes what we build
- When we break down walls, something better always comes out
-
Be human
- Curiosity, expertise, and judgment set us apart
- We bring that humanity to every decision and every person we work with
- Honest when it's hard, warm when it matters
Questions people ask
-
Do I need to speak Dutch?
No. English is the working language and a good part of the team is international.
-
I know nothing about regulation or risk. Is that a problem?
No. Almost nobody arrives knowing this. What matters is that you read carefully and ask when something looks off.
-
Can I write my thesis here?
Yes. The thesis itself is your own work outside office hours, but the subject can come from what you do here.
-
Can I stay after the internship?
It happens. Our colleague Ben started here as an intern in the Leeuwarden data team and now coordinates data operations.
